I need to get this off my chest. I am Team Wade 100 % have been from the beginning & I keep replaying that scene with the Kinsella brothers & Zoey. So here goes :
After watching the last episode of Hart of Dixie I am taking sides. And by that I mean firmly on Wade’s side.
I love Zoey’s character. And I completely agree with Wade now that its bought to our attention that Zoey does in fact chose people with career, money & prospects.
Remember back a few episodes when Wade said every one thinks he doesn’t really care for much other then working at the bar and sleeping with half the town? Well now that Lavon bought it to his attention, Wade made the small effort to impress Zoey AND her compliments on the new shirt was the little ego boost Wade needed to want to throw his hat in the ring so to speak.
But then….. Some how somewhere we are forced to watch Zoey & Hudson will we /wont we and then watch as Wade mislead Zoey, telling her of his real feelings and things were strained between the two once again. - Painfully hard to watch also.
I thought they were back on good terms after he apologized? After Zoey had the fight with her father Wade served her a cocktail he didn’t serve to any one else? Does no one else see the sweet things he does without being obvious?
Also even though Wade & George had words in jail about George stepping away from Zoey so Wade can have a chance, does every one else see what I see? When George has a problem he cant discuss with Lemon he goes running to Zoey? To me that is drawing yourself closer not backing away. George is aware Zoey has a crush on him and yet when they spend time together neither of them stop batting those eyelashes.
Anyways I do have a point here.
Maybe - Just maybe…Wade has only told Lavon of his plans to open his own bar because he knows Lavon will not judge him if he does or doesn’t make it, where as the rest of the town although they know of Wade’s family & history, they don’t expect him to reach very high on achievements.
And by not telling Zoey he has in some way grown in character. Protecting his ego by not putting himself out there and having her turn him down or laughing in his face…seeing it is he already has tried many a times and only got as far as a few stolen kisses and a jug of cold water.
That in itself shows Wade isn’t the same guy he was 18 episodes ago.
I understand why Wade would be bitter, because unlike the rest of the guys Zoey has been interested in, the only thing he has to offer is himself. Rugged, hilarious, unpredictable, a little misguided but kind, gentle and caring to those who he does care about.
And now that George has left Lemon he should not rebound on Zoey. That’s just being a terrible friend to Wade & to Zoey for playing on her feelings.
During the next round of George/Zoey scenes I will keep thinking - someone step in and stop this from going ANY WHERE so Zoey can get over that crush and open her damn eyes up to the all american boy next door.
Don’t ask how I am into this show soooooo much considering its only in its first season. It just happened. I think its the Wilson Bethel effect.
